Sacramento to Tucson

This mini-trip falls on a perfect date--after enough weeks of being in Tucson that I'm starting to et anxious and right before a long trip home that's bound to fill me with emotions, doubts, thrills and hopefully peace.  Right before launching my site.

I'm flying out to Sacramento to help my best friend move back to Tucson.  This make me happy, ridiculously happy.  Not that I wish the curse of the scorching summer heat upon anyone, but because she is family, and having her close again will be amazing.  Plus, we have hours of driving back to catch up, something that nowadays between work and family has become a luxury.

Waiting for the plane to take off and reading an interesting compilation of short stories from Esquire.  The issue focuses on what it means to be a man.  Feeling ambivalent about the subject and it makes me stop to think about the men I know--the ones that were born into my life and those whom i've chosen to surround myself with.  What makes them "men"?

As I read the answers to the qustion at hand, they all seem like generic answers.

"Strength"

                  "Leadership"

"Ambition"

But the word popping up in my head, the quality that stands out and makes me think "now that's a man" is
               PATIENCE.

 no patience= still a boy

I'm wearing these INDI pants to travel and they are the most COMFORTABLE and SEXY pants EVER!!

Yes, this trip is about testing out products as well....I brought along these rushed pants and this maxi skirt for the long driving days....

Both were light to pack, comfortable and didn't wrinkle when I stuffed them into my tiny backpack.
I highly recommend them for all of your travel adventures!

querido asado...

Day 3 as a vegetarian. I feel like this is karma slapping me in the face for making so much fun of my veggie friends in the past. Now it turns out that Diana, 29 years old, girl whose favorite meal is "asado" has to give up meat for the sake of her kidneys.

To tell you the truth, it's not as difficult as it seems on a daily basis.  It's just getting into the habit of ordering food without meat at restaurants, and being that picky person that double checks their order with the server, etc. The hardest part is the Sunday afternoon tradition of eating asado and watching soccer.  I can't think of a better combination for a lazy Sunday afternoon...

I will admit that I feel pretty damn good--my meals are much lighter so I don't get sleepy after them and my stomach feels like it's on vacation.  And I know for a fact that I will be a much healthier and happier person in a few years because of this, so I've decided to quit bitching about it and just do it.

Oh, and same thing with coffee--gave that up two weeks ago because I had been on this coffee craze where I was up to 6 cups a day....so I decided to quit all together. Don't miss it at all.

Plus I figure if I give up these things now, I can then treat my body to them when I go home in june.  Have a taste of Argentine asado and a couple delicious cups of coffee....which i will now appreciate more than ever.

Exciting news, my revamped website is almost ready to be published!  I'm very excited to open up the online shop which will be featuring a new "mini-collection" every three weeks.  The idea is to produce clothes in small batches, almost like making prints and numbering them.  This means that whatever you buy from INDI will have a finite number of copies, making the design you wear a lot more valuable and unique.

Sign up now to get INDI updates www.indi-apparel.com

Due to my upcoming trip to Argentina, I'm also working on a mini-collection for winter! Stay tuned....

TYP Runway Show!

TYP Runway Show 2013

The TYP Runway show was a great success!   I sold almost the entire collection during the show and got a ton of orders the day after, which was a first for me, but not surprising since I had such a great team on board!

Production wise, you know you're in good hands when you're working with Yekatherina Bruner , also working with April Brydges, and Allan Sturm...not to mention Candy Douglas who did a phenomenal job backstage keeping the peace.

My team of models was a mix of Tucson and Phoenix based girls, a super badass team of energetic, strong walkers who truly did INDI Apparel justice.

And the best part was getting to work with Amber Zabaleta (HAIR)  and Kris Osuna (MUA) because I always know they are going to make my models stand out from the crowd, fit in with the line, but above all look gorgeous!

Maria from Prickly Pear Hearts Accessories collaborated with me on accessories, which really helped create cohesive outfits.  Have you seen these cute turban headbands?!  LOVE.

Neil Peters and Donny Tran were spotted pacing back and forth through the Fox Theater shooting every last seam and eyelash.  As a designer I feel so grateful for having them record so many moments that I would otherwise miss....like my entire runway show!  I always have to be backstage : (

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

In other news...

It's been overwhelming to see how many responses I received from my last blog post.

Positive, strong, and encouraging words overflowed my gmail inbox, Facebook wall and phone.

What was most surprising was the amount of women who replied, telling me their own story and almost all of them saying that they never told anyone about what had happened.  All of their stories paralleled mine in some way, and it was infuriating to realize how often these situations take place.

I have to admit it was comforting to hear from these women that they were glad I was speaking out, and that I somehow alleviated some of their pain by seeking justice.  I'd just like to say thank you to everyone for sharing your stories with me, and placing that trust in me as a friend.
